When did Bob Jobs get chrome or aluminum rims???

Friday, September 28th, 2012

Interesting question…Today we see lots of painted rims on Bob Jobs and custom bikes.

In the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s things were much the same.  Race bikes and hot rod/custuom bikes, generally had painted rims.. In the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s the same group had chrome or alloy rims.

Finally in the 90’s, painted rims started to make a return to custom and Bob Job bikes.  Hell, almost no one was building Bob Jobs until the late 1990’s..  That’s our story for today..  Remember, bobbers are for fishin’

This is the “spare” engine/frame for a 1960-something Harley XLR-TT, really rare…..Mag ignition, ball bearing cams….Big power from a 55″ bike….
